Types of vessels used in microwave, grill and convection mode

Different types of utensils should be used in microwave, grill and convection modes. Here we can see about the types of vessels used in microwave, grill and convection modes

Microwave Mode:

  • Here we can use any microwave safe plastics such as Tupperware or other microwave safe plastic containers and mugs with a microwave sign at the bottom of the vessel
  • Glassware such as Borosil, Treo and Pyrex can also be used
  • They can be used for reheating
  • For cooking in microwave you have to check whether the vessel is microwave safe
  • For that fill a glass with water and microwave it high on full power for 1minute
  • If the water alone heats up and the glassware does not gets heated then you can use the glassware for cooking, else you should use for reheating alone
  • You should not use the metal racks which come along with the oven
  • You should not use utensils with metallic lining with it
  • You can reheat, cook food, make small mug cakes, other small cakes and defrost in microwave mode
  • In this mode you can place the food inside and select the time and power levels as needed. Once the time is over the oven gives alarm and you can take the food outside. For some recipes, stir in between and again resume cooking
  • Don't overcook the food as it tends to burn the food and also the vessel

Grill Mode:

  • In this mode we can use metal utensils like aluminium utensils and glassware like Borosil, Treo and Pyrex
  • You can also use high metal rack for grilling
  • You can grill vegetables, cottage cheese, meats, chicken and fish
  • For this mode, you have to press "Grill" and set the timer and press start
  • Once the time is over the oven gives alarm and you can take the food ouside
  • Do not let the food inside as the heat will make the food gets overcooked
  • Use gloves to take the food out as the vessels will be hot

Convection Mode:

  • In this mode you can use aluminium utensils, aluminium tins, aluminium pans, aluminium moulds, silicon, ceramicware like ramekins and glassware like borosil, Treo and Pyrex
  • You can also use low metal rack for placing your baking tray on it
  • You can bake cakes, breads, pizza, cookies etc
  • In this mode you have to select convection mode and then select temperature and time
  • Some recipes require preheating too
  • Once the time is over the oven gives an alarm and you can take the food outside
  • Do not let the food inside as the heat will make the food gets overcooked
  • Use gloves to take the food out as the vessels will be hot
