Capsicum fry/Green Bell Pepper Fry

This is an easy and tasty fry made with capsicum and besan flour. This can be had as a side dish with rice. Capsicum have very high content of vitamin A, C and E (all anti-oxidants). The anti-septic properties in capsicum makes it effective in fighting food poisoning. The anti-oxidant in capsicum is highly effective in helping to protect the skin from free radical damage known to cause signs of aging. So you can have capsicum in any form which you like. Here is a simple fry of capsicum.

Preparation Time :15minutes

Cooking Time :20minutes


Ingredients:

  • Capsicum -1
  • Big Onion  -1
  • Green chilli -1
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Besan Flour/Kadalai maavu -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -2tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsap or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion, capsicum and green chilli into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After oil gets heated, add mustard seeds an d after it crackles add cumin seeds
  • Then add onions and fry
  • Then add besan flour and mix well
  • Then add green chilli and fry
  • Then add capsicum and fry well till it gets cooked 
  • Then add coriander powder, cumin powder, salt and mix well
  • Capsicum Fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour oil in a pan. After oil gets heated, add mustard seeds an d after it crackles add cumin seeds. Then add onions and fry. Then add besan flour and mix well
Then add green chilli and fry
Then add capsicum and fry well till it gets cooked 
Then add coriander powder, cumin powder, salt and mix well 
Capsicum Fry is now ready!!!

Sweet Potato Fry/Seeni kilangu fry

This is a tasty side dish which goes well with rice. This can be made very easily and takes only less time to prepare. Sweet potatoes are easily available and they are not very expensive too. They are delicious and have a lot of health benefits too. They are high in Vitamin B6, and have Vitamin C and D. They have good iron content too. So they can be taken as fry or can be grilled or baked. Here is a simple recipe of sweet potato fry.

Preparation Time :20minutes

Cooking Time :15minutes


Ingredients:

  • Sweet Potato/Seeni kilangu -2
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Red chilli -1
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Coconut -2tblsp
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai parupu -1tblsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli thool -1tblsp
  • Red chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Turmeric powder/Manjal podi -1tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

For Roasting and Grinding:

  • Coconut -2tblsp
  • Channa Dal/Kadalai parupu -1tblsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp

Dry roast it and grind it with red chilli powder and coriander powder coarsely without adding water

Preparation:

  • In a pan dry roast Channa Dal, coconut and cumin seeds. After it cools grind it with red chilli powder and coriander powder coarsely without adding water
  • Wash and peel the skin of sweet potato and chop sweet potato into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After oil gets heated add mustard seeds
  • After it splutters add red chilli and curry leaf and fry
  • Then add sweet potato and mix well
  • Add salt and turmeric powder and mix well
  • Sprinkle some water and fry till it gets cooked
  • In a pan dry roast Channa Dal, coconut and cumin seeds. After it cools grind it with red chilli powder and coriander powder coarsely without adding water
  • Add this and mix well and fry for few minutes
  • Sweet Potato Fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Pour oil in a pan. After oil gets heated add mustard seeds. After it splutters add red chilli and curry leaf and fry. Then add sweet potato and mix well

Sirukeerai Fry/Tropical Amarnath Fry

This is a healthy side dish which can be taken with rice. The cleaning alone takes time but once you have finished cleaning it takes only very little time to prepare. This side dish can be done easily when you are in a hurry and its healthy too. Sirukeerai is good source of vitamin A, vitamin C, and folate; they are also a source some dietary minerals including calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, copper, and manganese.This possess dietary fiber, which helps in enhancing digestion.Sirukeerai is also a very helpful with people who suffer from diabetes. 

Preparation Time :20minutes

Cooking Time :15minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • Sirukeerai -1bunch
  • Big onion -1
  • Red chilli -3
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham Parupu -1/2tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1tsp
  • Coconut  -2tblsp
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:

  • Coconut  -2tblsp
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu/Perunjeerakam -2tsp
Grind this coarsely without adding water

Preparation:

  • Discard the roots alone and wash the leaves of Sirukeerai along with the stem and chop it into fine pieces including the stem
  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grind coconut and fennel seeds coarsely without adding water

Procedure:

  • After oil gets heated add mustard seeds and after it splutters add urad dal, cumin seeds,red chilli and fry well
  • Then add curry leaves, onion and fry well till onion becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add chopped sirukeerai and fry well till it shrinks
  • Then add salt and mix well
  • Grind coconut and fennel seeds coarsely without adding water and add this and mix well
  • Sirukeerai Fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Take Sirukeerai and discard the roots

Then add chopped sirukeerai and fry well till it shrinks
Then add salt and mix well
Grind coconut and fennel seeds coarsely without adding water and add this and mix well

Easy Bittergourd Fry/Pavakkai Fry

It is a very healthy and easy side dish which goes well as a side dish for rice. It takes only few minutes to prepare. Bitter gourds are very low in calories but has precious nutrients. It is an excellent source of vitamins B1, B2, and B3, C, magnesium, folate, zinc, phosphorus, manganese, and has high dietary fiber. It is rich in iron also. It also helps in lowering sugar levels and in treating blood disorders. It also helps to build our immune system. So it can eaten as fry or as curry or in any form as you like.

Preparation Time :10minutes

Cooking Time :15minutes


Ingredients:

  • Big Bitter gourd/Pavakkai -2
  • Big onion -2
  • Red Chilli -2
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad dal/Ulutha parupu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp+1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Wash and chop bitter gourd into small pieces
  • Chop onion into small pieces

Procedure:

  • Wash and chop bitter gourd into small pieces
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Put bitter gourd in it and fry till it becomes brown in color. Then take it separately in a plate and keep
  • Pour oil in the same pan
  • Then add mustard seeds
  • After it  crackles add red chilli, urad dal, cumin seeds and fry
  • Then add onions and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add the fried bitter gourd and mix well
  • Then add salt and mix well
  • Easy Bitter gourd fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Wash and chop bitter gourd into small pieces
Pour oil in a pan. Put bitter gourd in it and fry till it becomes brown in color. Then take it separately in a plate and keep
Pour oil in the same pan. Then add mustard seeds. After it  crackles add red chilli, urad dal, cumin seeds and fry. Then add onions and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
Then add the fried bitter gourd and mix well
Then add salt and mix well. Easy Bitter gourd fry is now ready!!!

Whole Green gram Sundal/Pasi Paruppu Sundal

This pasi parupu sundal is a easy recipe as it does not involve overnight soaking and gets ready very easily. It is a traditional South Indian Dish that can be had as a snack or as a side dish for rice. It is a perfect filling and a healthy snack too. The green gram is one of the healthiest pulses. Cooked dal of green gram is a very digestive food for sick persons. Its regular use during childhood, pregnancy and lactation helps one to get the required nutrition and also to promote health. It is rich in proteins, fiber, minerals, calcium, phosphorus, iron. It can be used in sprouted form also

Preparation  Time :10minutes

Cooking Time :20minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • Whole Green Gram/Pasi Parrupu -2cups
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham Parupu -1/2tsp
  • Big Onion -2
  • Curry leaves -A spring 
  • Coconut gratings -1/2cup
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Fennel seeds powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeerakam powder -2tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required
  • Water -1 and 1/2cups

For Grinding:
  • Coconut -1/2cup
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Fennel seeds/Sombu /Perunjeerakam -2tsp

Grind everything coarsely without adding water

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Grind everything given under "For Grinding" coarsely without adding water
  • Wash some curry leaves and keep

Procedure:

  • Take whole green gram in a pressure cooker and add water and pressure cook it for 2 whistles in high flame and in low flame for ten minutes
  • After the pressure goes by itself open the cooker and if there is excess water keep it aside and keep the whole green gram aside
  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After oil gets heated, add mustard seeds
  • After it splutters, add cumin seeds and urad dal and fry
  • Then add onions and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
  • Then add the green gram and mix well
  • If there is excess water after boiling green gram add it too and boil well
  • Then add salt and mix well
  • Grind coconut, green chili, fennel seeds coarsely without adding water 
  • Add this and mix well
  • Whole green gram Sundal is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

Take whole green gram in a pressure cooker and add water and pressure cook it for 2 whistles in high flame and in low flame for ten minutes
Pour oil in a pan. After oil gets heated, add mustard seeds. After it splutters, add cumin seeds and urad dal and fry. Then add onions and fry till it becomes golden brown in color
Then add the green gram and mix well
Grind coconut, green chili, fennel seeds coarsely without adding water
Mix well
Whole green gram Sundal is now ready!!!

Onion Potato Fry

This is a easy and tasty fry made with onion and potatoes and it goes well as a side dish with rice. It takes very less time to make. Potatoes are very good for our health and it can be taken as fry, curry or in any form as you like. Potatoes helps to maintain bone structure and strength. It helps to maintain blood pressure and helps in preventing constipation. There are many types of recipes to make potatoes but this is a simple potato fry which you can enjoy with rice. While cooking potatoes add generous amount of pepper so that it helps in easy digestion.

Ingredients:


  • Potatoes -2
  • Big Onion -1
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad dal/Ulutham parupu -1/2tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Chilli powder/Milagai thool -1tblsp
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -2tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Chop potato into small cubes
  • Wash some curry leaves and keep

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After oil gets heated, add mustard seeds
  • After it splutters, add urad dal, cumin seeds and curry leaves
  • Then add onions and fry
  • Then add potatoes and fry till it gets golden brown in color
  • Then add chilli powder, pepper powder, salt and mix well and fry
  • Onion Potato fry is now ready!!!

Beans Fry

This is one of the healthy, delicious and simple fry that be done easily if you have chopped beans else the chopping process takes little time. If you chop beans and store it in a airtight box and keep it in a fridge you can prepare this fry very easily at morning.It goes well as a side dish for rice. Beans are packed with proteins, fiber, vitamins and iron.

Preparation Time :15minutes

Cooking Time :15minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • Beans -1cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Mustard seeds /Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad dal /Ulutham Parupu -1/2tsp  
  • Cumin Seeds/ Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Coconut -1tblsp
  • Fennel seeds powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeerakam thool -1tsp
  • Green Chilli -2 or as required
  • Salt -1tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

For Grinding:
 
  • Coconut -1tblsp
  • Fennel seeds powder/Sombu powder/Perunjeerakam thool -1tsp
  • Green Chilli -2 or as required

Grind this coarsely without adding water


Preparation:

  • Wash beans and chop it into fine pieces
  • Chop onion into small pieces
  • Wash curry leaves and keep
  • Grind everything given under "For Grinding" coarsely without water and keep

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After oil gets heated add mustard seeds
  • After it crackles, add urad dal, cumin seeds and fry
  • Then add curry leaves, onion and fry
  • Then add beans and fry
  • Grind coconut, fennel seeds powder and green chilli coarsely without adding water
  • Add this mixture to beans and mix well and switch off the flame
  • Beans Fry is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:

 
Pour oil in a pan. After oil gets heated add mustard seeds. After it crackles, add urad dal, cumin seeds and fry. Then add curry leaves, onion and fry
Then add beans and fry
Grind coconut, fennel seeds powder and green chilli coarsely without adding water
Add this mixture to beans and mix well and switch off the flame
Beans Fry is now ready!!!

Beetroot Fry

Beetroot fry is a tasty fry which goes well with rice. The preparation is very easy and simple. Beetroot is very healthy for our body too. Beetroot is the root portion of beet plant.Beetroot is rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals.


Preparation Time :15minutes

Cooking Time :15minutes


Ingredients:

  • Beetroot -1
  • Big Onion -1
  • Mustard seeds/Kadugu -1tsp
  • Urad Dal/Ulutham parupu -1/4tsp
  • Cumin seeds/Seerakam -1/2tsp
  • Curry leaves -A spring
  • Green Chilli -2
  • Coconut -2tblsp
  • Salt -1tsp or as needed
  • Oil -1tblsp or as needed

Preparation:

  • Wash beetroot and remove the skin and grate it using a grater
  • Chop onion into fine pieces
  • Grind coconut in a mixer and keep. Grind it coarsely

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • After oil gets heated add mustard seeds
  • After it splutters add urad dal, cumin seeds and curry leaves
  • Then add onions and fry
  • Then add beetroot and fry. Close with a lid and cook for few minutes
  • Add the coconut gratings and mix
  • Beetroot fry is now ready!!!

Close with a lid and cook for few minutes
