Capsicum Rice/Green Bell Pepper rice

This is a quick, flavorful and colorful rice which is made very easily. It is an easy dish which can be made when you are in a hurry or when you have some left over rice you can make variety rice like this. This is a dish which is done very quickly and you can pack it easily as a lunch for school going children. It requires only few ingredients which is easily available in the kitchen. In US and Canada, they are called bell peppers. In Australia and Asia, they are known as Capsicum. Capsicums come in a variety of colors: Green, purple, red, orange and yellow. Green and purple are little bitter to taste.  Red, orange and yellow are milder flavored, sweeter, and pleasant to the taste. The red peppers are really green peppers which have been left to ripen on the vine.

Preparation Time :25minutes

Cooking Time :15minutes

 

Ingredients:

  • Cooked Rice -1cup
  • Big Onion -1
  • Capsicum -1
  • Green chilli -1
  • Pepper powder/Milagu thool -1tsp
  • Cumin powder/Seeraka thool -1tsp
  • Salt -2tsp or as required
  • Oil -1tblsp or as required

Preparation:

  • Cook rice and keep
  • Chop onion, capsicum and green chilli into smaller pieces

Procedure:

  • Pour oil in a pan
  • Add onions and fry till they become golden brown in color
  • Then add capsicum and fry
  • Then add green chilli and fry
  • Then add pepper powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well
  • Then add rice and mix well
  • Capsicum Rice is now ready!!!

Step by Step Procedure:
