Fish Kulambu

This is an easy fish kulambu. The taste will be very nice and takes little time to keep.Fish improves skin and hair and boost brain development too. Gingelly oil tastes best for fish kulambu.

Preparation Time :20minutes

Cooking Time :35minutes


Ingredients:

  • Shallots/Small onion -1and1/2cup
  • Any fish -1/2kg
  • Tamarind extract -1cup(soak lemon size tamarind in water and extract the juice)
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Chilli powder/Milagai podi -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli podi -1/2tblsp
  • Jeera powder/seeraka podi -1tblsp
  • Turmeric powder/manjal podi -1/4tsp 
  • Salt -1tblsp or as required
  • Water- 1cup or as required
  • Gingelly oil -2tblsp or as required

For Grinding:
  • Coconut -1/4cup
  • Chilli powder/Milagai podi -1tblsp
  • Coriander powder/Malli podi -1/2tblsp
  • Jeera powder/seeraka podi -1tblsp
  • Turmeric powder/manjal podi -1/4tsp
  • Small onions -1/2cup

Grind this to a fine paste by adding water

Preparation:

  • Wash fish and keep
  • Chop small onion and keep
  • Grind the things given under "for grinding" and keep
  • Take the juice out of tamarind and keep

Procedure:

  • Wash fish and keep
  • Chop onions to small pieces
  • Extract the juice out of tamarind and keep
  • Pour some gingelly oil in a pan
  • Add small onions and fry
  • Add tamarind extract and allow to boil
  • Then add the grinded paste and add little water and allow to boil till the raw smell goes off
  • Then add fish into it and boil in a low flame for 20minutes
  • Fish kulambu is now ready!!!

Step by step procedure:

Pour some gingelly oil in a pan.Add small onions and fry
Add tamarind extract and allow to boil
In a mixer add coconut,small onions,chilli powder, coriander powder, jeera powder, turmeric powder and grind it to a fine paste by adding water
Then add the grinded paste and add little water and allow to boil till the raw smell goes off
Then add fish into it and boil in a low flame for 20minutes
Fish kulambu is now ready!!!
